Precarious Dominion

Precarious Dominion

This handmade pen and ink artwork, crafted over three months, reflects on the complex and precarious interplay between power and belief. Measuring 700 x 900 mm, it’s rendered on archival paper, mounted on a plywood sheet, and backed with a softwood frame for longevity. Through delicate, free-hand hatching, a weaving-like texture emerges, symbolizing the nations impacted by unstable, establishment-driven governance in Pakistan. A staircase subtly weaves through the composition, embodying the cyclical rise and fall of temporary governments propped up by the establishment, highlighting the endless ascent and descent of political forces. The piece speaks to the fragility of power and the relentless shifts beneath the surface.
